Center Rock

XLP Drill®

At Center Rock, innovation is more than a goal, it’s a commitment. Since our breakthrough role in the 2010 Chilean Mine Rescue, where our LP Drill® helped free 33 miners through a 26-inch shaft, we’ve continued pushing drilling technology forward. The new XLP Drill is the latest step in that journey, designed to meet the growing demand for large-diameter, low-headroom drilling with enhanced power, efficiency, and versatility.

Key Features & Innovations of XLP Drills

Lowest Profile, Highest Power – 12 inches shorter than the LP Drill® at 48 inches total overall height for optimal low-headroom performance.

Lightweight Advantage – 12% lighter for improved handling without sacrificing durability.

Advanced RX80LP Hammer – High-frequency cycles reduce vibration to the rotary head.

Durable Construction – Built to withstand tough conditions, the LP drill is a testament to CENTER ROCK's rugged engineering.

How the XLP Drill Works

Like all LP Drills®, the XLP houses multiple DTH hammers in a canister, each with a carbide button bit. Compressed air cycles the pistons for rock penetration and clears cuttings from the borehole. Rotation is provided via multiple mounting options, including Kelly Bar or Center Rock’s ratchet attachment.

The XLP supports both conventional circulation (cuttings collected in a calyx basket) and reverse circulation (cuttings removed through a dual-tube drill string).
